Job Description

An established bakery based in Brooklyn is looking for a passionate Retail Bakery Manager who will be responsible for preparing and overseeing the production and displays of variety of desserts, pastries, sandwiches and bread. In this position, you will be expected to assist customers, bring a fresh input to the menu, and increase sales. Your role will also include maintaining inventory and ensuring that all baked goods are of high quality and meet customer expectations.


  • Oversee the preparation (Mashgiach) of a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked goods.
  • Operate as cashier, answer the phone, and assist with answering customers’ questions and requests in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Create and ensure an extensive knowledge of all menu items: breads, pastries, sandwiches, etc.
  • Operate baking equipment and machinery as necessary
  • Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Ensure all baked goods are of high quality and meet customer expectations
  • Control costs to help maximize profitability
  • Order and maintain inventory of baking ingredients and supplies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new baking techniques
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times
  • Train, develop, manage, and lead production staff to maintain bakery standards
  • Maintain a gracious, pleasant, and friendly attitude, while promoting a teamwork-based work environment.
  • Develop and ensure products are merchandised correctly, retail store is clean and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Previous baking or similar industry with supervisory experience is a plus.
  • A positive leader and fast learner with a willingness to learn all operations within the bakery.
  • A great communicator, problem solver and critical thinker
  • Ability to forecast and adjust production level as required.
  • Experienced in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use baking tools and equipment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Creativity and willingness to learn new recipes and techniques.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
