Job Description

A boutique property management company based in Brooklyn, NY is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Finance Associate to support the financial operations of the company. This role involves handling various financial tasks, including reconciliations, bank dealings, and addressing client-related issues. The Finance Associate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining compliance, and supporting the property management team in achieving financial efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Reconciliations:
    • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
    • Reconcile tenant accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Banking and Mortgage Management:
    • Manage relationships with banks, addressing banking-related matters such as account updates and transaction inquiries.
    • Handle all aspects of mortgage management, including oversight of 70 active mortgages.
  • Client Support:
    • Address and resolve financial client issues, ensuring timely and effective communication.
    • Collaborate with property managers to resolve tenant-related billing or financial concerns.
  • Accounts Management:
    • Oversee accounts payable processes, including delegating and ensuring timely cutting of checks.
    • Maintain records in RentManager, ensuring accuracy in rent billing and collections.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Assist in preparing financial reports, including cash flow and budget analyses.
    • Utilize Excel for data organization, analysis, and reporting (Excel proficiency is a plus).
  • Compliance and Recordkeeping:
    • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for audits and internal reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in property management or real estate.
  • Familiarity with property management software, especially RentManager.
  • Knowledge of banking processes and mortgage management.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel is highly desirable.
