A private progressive school in Queens, NY is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal/School Administrator with a strong background in administration, leadership, operations, and social work. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, particularly in a school setting, and will possess the skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the school while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. This role will require collaboration with faculty, staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders to ensure the school meets its academic, operational, and social goals.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Oversee daily school operations, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently.
- Lead and mentor staff, promoting professional development and a collaborative team culture.
- Work closely with the school leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the school’s mission and vision.
- Serve as the key decision-maker on administrative and operational matters.
Administration & Operations:
- Manage school-wide operational functions, including facilities, budgets, scheduling, and staff management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and educational standards.
- Oversee the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of school programs and services to enhance operational efficiency.
Social Work & Student Support:
- Provide leadership in developing programs and initiatives that support the social and emotional well-being of students.
- Work with social workers, counselors, and teachers to address the individual needs of students, including those with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with parents, families, and external agencies to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Ensure the school environment is inclusive, safe, and supportive for all students.
Community Engagement & Collaboration:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider community to foster engagement and support.
- Act as the main point of contact for external stakeholders, including local authorities, educational boards, and social service agencies.
- Promote the school’s vision and mission through effective communication and public relations strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in school administration or leadership, preferably with a focus on social work or student services.
- Strong understanding of school operations, educational standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with children and families in a school or community setting.
- Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse community of students, staff, and families.
