A boutique property management company in Brooklyn is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of their growing portfolio. You’ll play a key role in streamlining processes, improving reporting accuracy, and ensuring financial compliance. This is a high-impact role with room to grow as the company expands.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations for several bank accounts
- Handle all financial reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and manage budgets, financial reports, and forecasts
- Coordinate and file property taxes, and support preparation of corporate taxes
- Manage mortgage payments, tracking, and reporting
- Ensure timely filing of documents and financial statements
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
- Maintain compliance with accounting regulations and best practices
- Liaise with external accountants, lenders, and tax authorities as needed
- Utilize Remote Landlord software for property accounting and reporting
- Work with property managers to maintain accurate records and cost control
Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management
- Proficiency in Remote Landlord or similar property management accounting software
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, budgeting, tax filing, and mortgage accounting
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
