Job Description
A well-established residential property management firm is seeking a seasoned executive leader to oversee the operations of a large-scale portfolio in New York. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has deep expertise in compliance, legal requirements, property operations, and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of residential and some commercial property operations, ensuring compliance with New York City and State regulations, tax abatements, and legal procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team, including property managers, office staff (management & accounting), and multiple building superintendents.
- Implement systems and processes (RentManager or alternative platforms) to streamline operations, reduce errors, and enhance automation.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of compliance filings, tax abatements, lease documentation, and tenant communications.
- Monitor and enforce performance standards for both office staff and field personnel.
- Collaborate with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting, collections, and expense management.
- Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures to prevent errors and mitigate risks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in property management, real estate operations, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of New York residential property compliance, legal procedures, and tax abatements.
- Proven ability to oversee large teams across office and field operations.
- Experience implementing operational systems and driving process automation (RentManager or similar platforms).
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail—able to identify and prevent costly errors.
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead teams and engage with stakeholders.
