Job Description
A dynamic, data-driven collections company is seeking a Senior Litigator to handle complex litigation matters and oversee cases from inception through resolution. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with 2–3 years of litigation experience to join a dynamic legal team and take ownership of high-value cases.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a docket of commercial collection litigation matters from filing to post-judgment enforcement.
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and briefs in state and federal courts.
- Represent the company at court hearings, trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
- Handle post-judgment enforcement actions, including garnishments, levies, and turnover proceedings.
- Advise internal stakeholders on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and compliance considerations.
- Coordinate and oversee outside counsel where necessary.
- Stay updated on legal developments in collections, MCA, and creditor’s rights.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in New York, New Jersey and/or Connecticut a plus.
- 2–3 years of litigation experience, preferably in collections, commercial finance, or creditor’s rights
- A background in litigation experience with merchant cash advance (MCA) is strongly preferred
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills with courtroom experience.
- Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
