Job Description

An established Home Care organization is looking for a PCA Trainer. The PCA Trainer provides training and certification for Personal Care Assistants (PCAs). This role includes developing and delivering training materials, conducting hands-on instruction, and ensuring that all trainees meet the requirements for certification, especially in dementia care. Additionally, the PCA Trainer will be responsible for following up on converting Personal Assistants (PAs) to PCAs, maintaining a list of interested individuals, and tracking their progress toward completing certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Training Development & Delivery:
    • Design and develop training programs and materials for PCAs, with an emphasis on dementia care and other essential skills.
    • Conduct hands-on training sessions, ensuring trainees acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards and best practices in personal care and incorporate them into training programs.
  • Certification Process:
    • Evaluate trainees’ performance to ensure they meet all requirements for PCA certification.
    • Provide support and guidance to trainees throughout the certification process.
    • Ensure compliance with state regulations and company standards for PCA training and certification.
  • PA to PCA Conversion:
    • Identify and engage Personal Assistants (PAs) interested in becoming certified PCAs.
    • Maintain a detailed list of interested individuals and track their progress towards certification.
    • Assist PAs in understanding the benefits of certification and guide them through the conversion process.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate training records, including attendance, performance assessments, and certification status.
    • Generate reports on training outcomes, participant progress, and conversion rates from PA to PCA.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations for improving training programs and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Certified PCA Trainer or similar qualification in healthcare training.
  • Previous experience in a home care environment, particularly in dementia care, is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop training materials and conduct engaging training sessions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in tracking and maintaining trainee progress records.
