Job Description

A growing real estate investment and operations firm is seeking an experienced Asset Manager to oversee performance, operations, and growth across a sizable multi-family portfolio. The portfolio spans a large, multi-property multifamily presence across New York City, with a strong focus on scaling operations, professionalizing property management, and driving operational excellence. This role is a leadership position ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong operations background, proven real estate experience, and the ability to collaborate with both property-level management teams and corporate leadership.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Oversight & Strategy

  • Provide strategic and operational oversight for a sizable multifamily portfolio throughout NYC.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including occupancy, rent growth, operating expenses, and NOI
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement asset-level business plans
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews with property managers and field teams

Operational Leadership

  • Supervise and support a property management team and report directly to the COO
  • Ensure consistency in operations, financial performance, and property-level execution
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement standardized operating procedures
  • Support technology, systems, and tools that drive operational productivity and reporting

Building Professional Property Management

  • Establish and enforce performance standards, SOPs, and training frameworks
  • Lead coaching and development for property management teams
  • Act as a key point of contact between ownership and property-level leadership
  • Promote best practices in customer service, compliance, and vendor management

Financial & Performance Analysis

  • Review financials, analyze variances, and recommend corrective action plans
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Collaborate on CapEx planning, capital project oversight, and ROI tracking
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to key stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong communication with ownership, asset teams, and vendors
  • Present portfolio performance and strategic recommendations to leadership and investors
  • Build positive working relationships with internal and external partners

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in property management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in asset management, real estate operations, or a related leadership role
  • Strong analytical, financial, and operational skills
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop property management teams
  • Strong communicator with leadership presence
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of New York real estate markets and regulatory environments a plus
  • Technology-proficient (reporting tools, property management systems, and Microsoft Excel)
