Job Description
A growing real estate investment and operations firm is seeking an experienced Senior Asset Manager to oversee performance, operations, and growth across a sizable multifamily portfolio throughout Brooklyn and NYC. This is a high-impact, office-based leadership role focused on scaling operations, professionalizing property management, and driving portfolio-wide performance. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep operational experience, strong financial acumen, and a solid understanding of NYC compliance and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Oversight & Strategy
- Provide strategic and operational oversight across a large NYC multifamily portfolio
- Monitor key performance indicators (occupancy, rent growth, expenses, NOI)
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute asset-level business plans
- Conduct regular performance reviews with property management teams
Operational Leadership
- Supervise and support property management teams; report directly to the COO
- Ensure consistency in operations, financial performance, and execution
- Identify inefficiencies and implement standardized processes and SOPs
- Support adoption of systems and tools to improve reporting and productivity
Building Professional Property Management
- Establish and enforce performance standards, SOPs, and training frameworks
- Coach and develop property management staff
- Serve as the bridge between ownership and on-site teams
- Promote best practices in customer service, compliance, and vendor management
Financial & Performance Analysis
- Review financials, analyze variances, and implement corrective action plans
- Support budgeting and forecasting across the portfolio
- Collaborate on CapEx planning and oversee capital projects
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting to stakeholders
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all properties operate in accordance with NYC housing regulations, compliance standards, and legal requirements
- Stay up to date on local laws, rent regulations, and operational compliance
- Work closely with legal and operations teams to mitigate risk
Requirements:
- Requirements
- 7–10+ years of property management experience
- 5+ years in asset management, real estate operations, or leadership role
- Strong understanding of NYC real estate regulations and compliance
- Proven ability to manage and develop teams
- Strong analytical, financial, and operational skills
- Excellent communication and leadership presence
- Experience managing large portfolios (1,000+ units preferred)
- Proficiency in property management systems and Microsoft Excel
