Job Description
A dynamic, data-driven collections company is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join their legal team. This role is critical in supporting all phases of the litigation process, from initial filings through post-judgment actions, with a focus on collections and recovery efforts. They are looking for a highly organized and proactive professional with 3-5 years of relevant paralegal experience, preferably within the MCA or financial services industry.
Responsibilities:
- Support attorneys in all stages of litigation, including preparing and filing summons, complaints, motions, judgments, and other court documents.
- Assist with post-judgment processes such as garnishments, levies, and enforcement actions.
- Manage arbitration proceedings and related documentation.
- Draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and discovery requests/responses.
- Conduct legal research and assist with UCC filings and searches (experience with UCC highly preferred).
- Maintain organized case files and track deadlines to ensure timely filings and responses.
- Liaise with courts, opposing counsel, and third-party vendors as needed.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including calendaring hearings and deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1–5 years of paralegal experience supporting litigation in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong understanding of collections litigation and post-judgment enforcement processes.
- MCA (Merchant Cash Advance) industry experience required.
- Familiarity with arbitration proceedings and UCC filings (a plus).
- Proficient in legal software and court e-filing systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
